Eco-Education Camp in Perkalaba: Who Runs It and How to Book It

May 2026

Perkalaba is a remote village in the highlands of the Carpathians, located on the border of Verkhovynskyi National Nature Park and Cheremoskyi National Nature Park. Here, among forested hills and the sound of the Perkalab River, the Frankfurt Zoological Society helped create a space for an eco-education camp for children, which begins operating in June.

Perkalaba offers everything needed for children to spend a comfortable week or more in nature while taking part in high-quality environmental education activities: safari tents with beds, toilets, showers, a common gathering area, and equipment for exploring nature. With the support of FZS, the environmental educators from the national parks developed engaging camp programmes and are now ready to welcome young visitors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book the camp through the Frankfurt Zoological Society?

No. Bookings and all related inquiries are handled exclusively by Cheremoskyi National Nature Park and Verkhovynskyi National Nature Park. Our team supported the construction of the camp, the procurement of equipment, and the development of the environmental education programmes. The organization and implementation of the camps are managed by the national park teams.

Can my child attend the camp individually?

No. The camp is available only for organized groups of children.

How can we get to the camp?

Children living within or near Verkhovynskyi and Cheremoskyi National Nature Parks can use the eco-education buses with Mr. Slug, provided they are not already booked for other trips. Visitors from other regions of Ukraine who are organizing their own camps can also use these buses for transportation from the nearest railway station, subject to availability.
