Pushcha Radziwila

Officially established at the beginning of 2022, Puscha Radziwila National Nature Park is located in the Sarny district of Rivne region of Ukraine, which is situated in the basin of the Stviga river. The park aims to preserve the unique natural complexes of Ukrainian Polissia. It The national nature park is home to preserved historical and cultural monuments that reflect the rich heritage of Polissia and is named after the Radziwill family, which played a significant role in the history of the region.

Spanning an area of 24,265 hectares, the park is home to rare wetlands, lakes and ponds that hold substantial environmental, health, historical, cultural, scientific and educational value.

The park features natural complexes that include diverse landscapes and remarkable plant and animal life, which includes many species listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine.

Puscha Radziwila National Nature Park offers plenty of opportunities for ecotourism, including bird watching, hiking along ecological trails and educational activities where visitors can learn about the region’s natural and cultural heritage.

About cooperation with the Frankfurt Zoological Society

Since russia’s invasion of Ukraine in early 2022, the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) has been supporting the Puscha Radziwila National Nature Park with partial coverage of operational costs. The FZS also systematically supports biomonitoring, in particular by providing camera traps and equipment for monitoring birdlife.
